
UPLB ARDS Alumni conducted the symposium “Rethinking agricultural and rural development (ARD): perspectives from UPLB ARD Scholarship (ARDS) alumni,” on February 14, 2020 at the SEARCA Drilon Hall, UPLB campus.
The conference speakers include Dr. Emil Javier and three pf our ARDS Alumni Dr. Leocadio S. Sebastian, Ramon L. Rivera, and Dr. Nora Blanca Caberoy.
ARDS approach to agriculture and rural development is integrated and multidisciplinary in nature that is crucial in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals identified during the UN Sustainable Development Summit in 2015. Specifically, through the national symposium, ARDS is contributing in attaining 12 of the 17 sustainable goals identified by the UN.
The objectives of the national symposium include:
- Bring together ARDS grantees and facilitate sharing of ideas;
- Synthesize knowledge about inclusive and sustainable growth for agricultural and rural development, and,
- Establish a community of practice among ARDS grantees from all over the world to advance the discipline and practice of agricultural and rural development.
